According to Kicker, Everton are interested in signing RB Leipzig maestro Emil Forsberg, along with Sevilla and Roma.
However, the 56-cap Sweden international has just signed a new contract with the Bundesliga outfit, which will last until 2025.
The German news outlet state that a conversation with Julian Nagelsmann’s replacement, Jesse Marsch, convinced Forsberg to sign a new deal.
Now, that doesn’t mean Everton have no chance of signing him anymore.
However, it will make it a lot harder to convince him to leave Germany.
It also protects his value, meaning RB Leipzig now find themselves in a much stronger negotiating position.
That is a real shame for the Toffees.
Why? Well, Forsberg is a quality player, but Everton already know that.
The Merseysiders have been scouting the 29-year-old since 2016, according to the Daily Star.
Seeing as they’re still eyeing him up five years later, it’s safe to say Everton are convinced by his abilities.
That comes as no surprise to us – Forsberg is sheer class.
He is known for his creativity in the middle of the park, so much so that the Bundesliga’s official website crowned him as the ‘assist king’ of Germany’s top-flight.
The statement was made after Forsberg impressively assisted 19 Bundesliga goals in the 2016/17 campaign.
Sadly, a deal now seems very unlikely to materialise, in our view.
