Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a move for Sergio Ramos during the January transfer window.
According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham are interested in signing the legendary Real Madrid defender.
At the time of the original speculation, there was doubts over whether Ramos would even be leaving the Spanish capital.
But a fresh report from Marca indicates that the veteran centre-back will indeed be off.
The Spanish newspaper has reported Ramos and Florentino Perez have held two separate discussions over a contract extension and the second meeting concluded with the Real president being happy to see the player leave.
The 35-year-old, who earns £338,000 per week, is out of contract at the Bernabeu next month and wanted a two-year deal, with Madrid only offering a one-year extension.
It goes without saying that Tottenham need defenders this summer.
And with Jose Mourinho having left North London, the Ramos link seems a little more plausible.
Ramos and the Portuguese coach had a falling-out during the latter’s spell at Real a decade ago and a reunion at Spurs didn’t seem all that likely.
But if Spurs were genuinely interested in January, it would’ve been chairman Daniel Levy pulling the strings and therefore Mourinho’s departure wouldn’t necessarily mean that the Lilywhites’ interest is dead in the water.
