According to Give Me Sport, Rangers are joining Everton in the race to sign Wigan Athletic talent James Carragher this summer.
It’s claimed that Rangers have spotted Carragher whilst keeping tabs on fellow Wigan youngster Kyle Joseph.
Carragher is the son of ex-Liverpool ace and current Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher, meaning a move to Rangers would be very interesting.
A deal would see him play under Steven Gerrard at Ibrox, after Gerrard spent the majority of his career playing alongside Carragher for Liverpool and England.
Those ties could come into play here as Carragher faces a big decision over his future at the end of the season.
The Liverpool Echo state that Everton want to sign Carragher, and have made contact with Wigan over the compensation required; the teenager is out of contract this summer.

Wigan’s current demands are too high for Everton though, meaning Rangers now have a chance to swoop in and hijack the Toffees.
Carragher, 18, plays at centre back or right back, just like his dad. Formerly of Liverpool, Carragher has been impressing for Wigan’s Under-18’s but has yet to make his first-team debut.
Carragher would be one for the future at Rangers, and beating Everton could be seen as something of a coup for Steven Gerrard’s men.
