Arsenal are said to be weighing up a move for Moussa Dembele, as they look to strengthen their attack this summer.
The Telegraph report that Arsenal want the striker, who is currently contracted to Lyon.
Dembele joined Atletico Madrid on loan this season, but he has struggled in Spain – and there is a feeling that Diego Simeone’s side may not activate his buy out clause.
That means that Arsenal may be able to land the forward, and they are apparently looking into the possibility of doing a deal ahead of the summer.
Signing a new striker seems to be one of Mikel Arteta’s top priorities and Dembele could be an appealing option, if he is at his best.
The 24-year-old has scored prolifically in France and Scotland in his career so far and, crucially, is still young enough to improve – unlike many of Arsenal’s current leading strikers.
Kieran Tierney is a major fan having played with Dembele at Celtic before.
“He is brilliant, Moussa,” he said to the Glasgow Evening Times.
“I remember one game where I fired a ball up to him and he took it on the chest and made a terrible ball from me look so simple. It actually finished up making me look good.
“Having somebody like that in your team is brilliant.”
If Dembele was to join Arsenal there may be a space open for him up-front.
Arsenal could sell Alexandre Lacazette and Mikel Arteta has seemed reluctant to use Gabriel Martinelli as a central forward on a regular basis so far.
The Telegraph claim Arsenal may have to pay up to £25 million to land the French international this summer.
