Gary Neville snubbed Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson in favour of Chelsea star Edouard Mendy on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports Premier League (10:50pm, May 10, 2021).

The former Manchester United defender picked Mendy in his Premier League Team of the Season ahead of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson and Manchester City star Ederson.

However, Neville made it clear that he thinks that Alisson and Ederson are the two best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

Neville said on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports Premier League (10:50pm, May 10, 2021): “I don’t think Ederson has been at his best this season. Emerson and Alisson are the best two goalkeepers in the league, let’s be clear, but I think his impact this season.”

Like some of the other Liverpool players, Alisson is not having the best of seasons and has made some costly errors.

The Brazil international has not been at his best, but the 28-year-old has also made a lot of important saves over the course of the season.

Mendy has been better this season. The 29-year-old is a key figure in manager Thomas Tuchel’s squad and is a key reason why the Blues are hardly conceding at the moment.

Signed from Rennes last summer, the Senegal international’s impact is there for all to see.

Chelsea look set to finish in the Premier League top four and have also reached the final of the Champions League.

Neville’s snub of Ederson in favour of Mendy might be questioned by Manchester City fans.

City are virtually guaranteed of winning the Premier League and will contest the Champions League final with Chelsea.

Ederson, 27, has played his role.
