Gary Neville has admitted to Monday Night Football that he has been hugely disappointing with Tottenham Hotspur’s Heung-Min Son in the last two months.
Son was set to make it into Neville’s Premier League Team of the Season last night, but the pundit opted against including the Spurs man in the end.
Neville says that he was very frustrated with the way that Son performed at Wembley, as Tottenham lost 1-0 to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final last month.
And he simply couldn’t include the South Korean due to his performances of late.
“I had Son in at one point, I just looked at the numbers, but then I thought – do you know something? The last couple of months, and I love Son as a player, but the last couple of months he’s really disappointed me and I can’t get that Carabao Cup final out of my head. I just thought they were really disappointing Spurs, and it just carried with me.” he said.
“He’s a brilliant player, exceptional talent, but I changed him at the last minute.”
Son’s performance levels within games may have dipped slightly of late, but he has continued to the find the back of the net.
Son has scored two goals in Ryan Mason’s first four Premier League matches, and is enjoying the best season of his career.
The South Korean has scored 22 goals and 17 assists across all competitions, which makes Neville’s comments seem a little harsh.
