Tottenham Hotspur decided to send Oliver Skipp out on loan last summer – and it’s gone pretty much perfectly.
Skipp wasn’t going to hold down a first-team role under Jose Mourinho, so was farmed out on loan to Norwich City for the season.
The midfielder was playing so well at Norwich that Tottenham considered recalling him in January, but eventually chose to leave him at Carrow Road.
Skipp was outstanding this season. He racked up 45 appearances for Norwich this season, missing just one game as Daniel Farke’s men won promotion.
With one goal and one assist, it may not look like Skipp has been all that integral, but he has been vital in helping Norwich control games and ultimately win promotion.
The 20-year-old heads back to Tottenham this summer, and will be hoping to carve out a first-team role under Spurs’ next manager.
However, Canaries midfielder Alexander Tettey has told Eastern Daily Press that he wants to see Skipp return for another year at Norwich.
Tettey feels that, if Tottenham don’t give Skipp first-team football next term, then he should ‘just come here’, offering up Carrow Road as an escape route.

Tettey added that he’s got his fingers crossed that Skipp returns, noting that everybody at Norwich loves him and wants him back.
“Every Norwich fan would say that they hope that Tottenham don’t play him so he can come back!” said Tettey. “When you are that age, you consistently play football. Tottenham need to find out whether they want to give him that. If not, then we know and he knows there is only one place for him. He should just come here.”
“There is no pressure. The manager loves him. He knows the group, he’s been here and done well. It makes sense for him to come back. Everyone wants him to come back. Fingers crossed,” he added.
