Tottenham Hotspur defender Serge Aurier could make a quite astonishing move to Real Madrid this summer.
That’s according to Foot Mercato in France, who claim that Spurs are ready to let Aurier leave this summer for €12million.
That’s around £10milllion, marking a huge £13million loss after Tottenham paid £23million to sign Aurier from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.
Aurier is approaching the final year of his contract, and Spurs are ready to cash in now rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2022.
PSG are keen to re-sign Aurier, but it’s now suggested that Real Madrid have begun gathering information on the Ivorian’s situation ahead of a possible move.
Aurier has even spoken to Raphael Varane about reuniting at Real, having played together at RC Lens in France many years ago.
Real want a backup to Dani Carvajal, and seemingly feel that 28-year-old Aurier can be the right man for the job without breaking the bank.
Lucas Vazquez may leave and Alvaro Odriozola has failed to break through at Real, so Aurier could slot into a rotational role with the Spanish giants.

That this rumour is even emerging is astonishing. Aurier has barely proven that he’s good enough to play regularly for Spurs, never mind make the same move as Luka Modric and Gareth Bale in the past by leaving Tottenham for Real.
Contacts between Spurs and Real are strong after deals for Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon last summer, and that could help facilitate a move for Aurier.
By joining one of the world’s top sides and reuniting with Varane, such a move has to be a dream for Aurier – and Tottenham may end up hoping that Real and PSG end up in a bidding war.
