Ian Wright has said on Premier League Productions that Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe has actually become better this season.

The Arsenal legend made the comments about Pepe following the Gunners’ 3-1 win against West Bromwich Albion at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

Pepe scored a wonderful goal in the 35th minute to help Arsenal pick up all three points in North London.

Arsenal legend Wright wants the 25-year-old Ivory Coast international winger to repeat his goal against West Brom against the top teams, and believes that he has become better this season.

Wright said about Pepe on Premier League Productions: “You don’t see this often enough. You would like to see him getting the ball and creating more.

“I think that he had a spell in the team where this season he has been better and he is getting better. You would like to see more goals like this against the top teams.”

Has Pepe become better, like Wright says?

Let’s have a look at the stats, courtesy of WhoScored.

The winger has made 14 starts and 13 substitute appearances in the Premier League this season, scoring six goals and providing one assist in the process.

Pepe also made 10 starts and three substitute appearances in the Europa League this season, scoring six goals and providing four assists in the process.

Last season, Pepe made 22 starts and nine substitute appearances in the league, and scored five goals and gave six assists.

In two starts and four substitute appearances in the Europa League last season, the winger scored two goals and provided two assists.

Stats suggest that Pepe has become better this season, but the problems is that the winger needs to be more consistent and has to be more influential.

Pepe has often been criticised for his underwhelming performances since he joined Arsenal in 2019, but there have been some positive signs this season.
