Rio Ferdinand has said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE that he is really worried about Tottenham Hotspur central defender Eric Dier’s form.

Dier is not having the best of times at the moment, and the Tottenham defender struggled in the Premier League game against Leeds United at Elland Road at the weekend.

Leeds won the match 3-1, and England international central defender Dier had a disappointing game.

The 27-year-old, who can also operate as a midfielder, has earned 45 caps for England.

Former Manchester United and Leeds defender Ferdinand has said that Dier is struggling for confidence, and is worried that the former Sporting Lisbon star could be left out of the England squad for the European Championship this summer.

Ferdinand said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE: “Eric Dier, I worry for him now. Does he get into the England squad now based on some of things I have seen recently, his performances? He is struggling for confidence and form.”

Like a number of Tottenham players, Dier has struggled to play to the best of his abilities this season.

All footballers go through bad spells, and it seems that the Tottenham star is going through one himself.

It has not helped that the 27-year-old has not had a settled partnership in defence.

Moreover, there was a managerial change recently, with Ryan Mason taking charge of the first team until the end of the season following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

Dier has done well for England in the past, and Three Lions had coach Gareth Southgate should keep faith in him.

After all, you do not play close to 50 games for England if you are not good.
