Sam Allardyce has praised Arsenal’s Nicolas Pepe and Willian after their goals against his West Bromwich Albion side last night on BT Sport.

Arsenal ran out 3-1 winners over West Brom yesterday and Allardyce suggested that the result flattered the Gunners.

The Baggies boss felt that the difference between the sides was simply Arsenal’s greater ruthlessness in the final third.

And he was impressed with the Gunners’ second and third goals in particular.

“They did take their goals very well. Certainly the second one was a brilliant goal and the free-kick was a brilliant free-kick,” Allardyce said.

“In all fairness we scored an excellent goal but lots of times we had better chances to create more and convert and didn’t do it.”

It is true that Arsenal weren’t exactly swashbuckling yesterday, but their attacking quality shone in the end.

Pepe’s check inside and finish is becoming a trademark of his now, and his goal once again showed his finishing ability when allowed to come inside on to his left foot.

Willian’s goal, meanwhile, has been all too rare in an Arsenal shirt.

The Brazilian finally got off the mark in the Premier League goal for the club and in some style, as he curled in a majestic free kick from range.

The win pushed Arsenal back into the top half of the Premier League standings, while condemning Allardyce’s West Brom side to relegation.
