Old statements by Olivia Wilde have resurfaced where the actress compares her switch from actress to director feel like she was coming out of the closet. Now, Twitter has been divided over whether her comments were insensitive and what her sexuality is.

Uh oh, looks like Olivia Wilde is the latest celebrity to be targeted by Twitter. Some may even say she’s getting cancelled.

An extract from her 2018 episode of Off Camera with Sam Jones podcast has resurfaced where she talks about her experience of transitioning from actress to behind the lens as similar to the feeling of coming out of the closet.

Some of the internet is less than pleased as they have labelled her as insensitive and even homophobic. They claim that it is completely unacceptable to compare the two together since coming out is such a difficult and stressful process.

On top of that, haters have dug up her old monologue from Glamour Presents “These Girls” event in 2012, where she talked about her outlook on relationships after her divorce from Tao Ruspoli in 2011.

She considered “a soft kind of lesbian relationship, just gentle kissing and scissoring”.

Because of this statement and that she has hinted to fans that she is bisexual on previous occasions, some fans are defending her ‘coming out’ comment because she would have first-hand experience of sharing her sexuality.

So, is Olivia Wilde actually bisexual?

Is Olivia Wilde bisexual?

The actress has never officially declared that she is bisexual. Though she has said some things that make the internet believe that she is:

Back in 2015, she appeared on Bravo’s What What Happens Live and played ‘Plead the Fifth’, with her then-fiancee Jason Sudeikis asking the hard questions.

Olivia has played bisexual characters on House and The OC featuring raunchy scenes with Mischa Barton and Ashley Green. No wonder why Jason asked whether she’s “dipped her toe in the lady pool”.

Her shock and blushing accompanied by her tame “I appreciate all people” points us to yes, especially since she didn’t say no.

But still, Olivia hasn’t officially come out of the closet.

With all these comments, no wonder the internet is confused on her sexuality.

Olivia Wilde’s relationships

The 37-year-old has been in three publicly-known relationships.

She got married on a school bus on June 7, 2003 at age 19 to Italian musician Tao Ruspoli, a member of the aristocratic Ruspoli family. They got divorced on March 3, 2011, citing “irreconcilable differences”.

Her most known relationship was with actor Jason Sudeikis from 2011-2020. They were engaged in Janaury 2013 and share two children: son Otis, born 2014, and daughter Daisy, born in 2016.

The world was shocked when she was spotted cuddling up to sexually ambiguous singer Harry Styles. Olivia is ten years his senior.

The fans backing up Olivia in the Twitter controversy are calling out the One Direction fans for trying to cancel whoever their favourite star is dating. Apparently, it’s mostly the harries aka the Harry lovers.
