Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said on Sky Sports Premier League (10:44pm, May 8, 2021) that he was shocked when he saw Alisson almost concede a goal against Southampton.
Klopp’s Liverpool got the better of Southampton 2-0 at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
Sadio Mane gave the Reds the lead in the 31st minute, and Thiago doubled the advantage late in the match, as the defending Premier League champions maintained their slim chance of finishing in the top four.
Alisson had a very good game between the posts. The Brazil international denied Che Adams and Nathan Redmond moments before the Reds scored their first goal.
The 28-year-old was a big player in the second half as well, but there was one moment when the goalkeeper made a mistake and the ball fell to Che Adams.
Thankfully for Liverpool and Alisson, it did not end in goal, but it did leave Klopp stunned.

Klopp said on Sky Sports Premier League (10:44pm, May 8, 2021): “Ali plays the ball in their feet, and I think, ‘Oh my what kind of idea is that?’ But they didn’t score in that moment which is maybe lucky but Ali made the save then.”
All footballers make mistakes, and Alisson is no exception. The world-class goalkeeper has made some costly errors this season.
However, Alisson recovered quickly from that mistake against Adams, and showed his class and quality.
Liverpool are still in the running for the Premier League top four.
For that to happen, Alisson needs to be at his best and perform the way he did against Southampton, minus the incident against Adams.
