According to L’Equipe (print edition, page 6, May 8, 2021), Houssem Aouar is open to leaving Lyon, amid reported interest from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

It has been reported by the French publication that although Aouar is not as determined to leave Lyon as he was last summer, he is still open to offers.

Goal.com reported in March that Liverpool are interested in signing the French midfielder from Lyon in the summer transfer window.

Also in March, Calciomercato reported that Arsenal and Manchester City are interested in securing the services of the Lyon star this summer, as covered by HITC Sport.

Described as “incredible” by City manager Pep Guardiola on BBC Sport in November 2018, the 22-year-old is one of the best players in Ligue 1 and would be a brilliant signing for Liverpool or Arsenal.

Both the Reds and the Gunners could do with freshening up their midfield, and the Lyon star could be a good long-term signing.

The 22-year-old has played over 100 league games for Lyon already, and has also experience of playing in the Champions League and the Europa League.

The youngster has scored five goals and provided three assists in Ligue 1 this season, with Lyon aiming to finish in the top three.
