Norwich City playmaker Todd Cantwell has spoken very highly of Leeds United on the ITV Football Podcast, after being impressed by the way they have handled the step up to the Premier League this term.

Leeds currently occupy a top half spot in their first season back in the top flight, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side proving a difficult opponent even for England’s strongest clubs.

Leeds’ progress has offered hope to Norwich that they can perform similarly after achieving promotion back to the Premier League this year.

And Cantwell admits that his side will be looking to learn from Leeds.

“Leeds have been fantastic this season. You’ve played against them so you know exactly what they are about,” Cantwell said, in a conversation with Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend.

“They’re full throttle! With us what we lacked and missed is that experience.

“Leeds obviously have quite a few older players and probably are a little bit more streetwise, with the greatest respect to ourselves.”

Cantwell’s comments are interesting as he was strongly linked with a move to Leeds just six months ago.

If Norwich hadn’t fought so hard to keep their creator, he may actually have been part of the Leeds squad who have performed so well this term.

The Daily Mirror said in January that Leeds were keen on Cantwell, but decided that his £20 million price tag was just too expensive for them.

With Norwich promoted, Cantwell looks likely to stick around at Carrow Road for next season.

And Norwich will be hoping that their stay in the Premier League is a longer one than last time around.
