Well, Ethan Nwaneri certainly enjoyed an Arsenal debut to remember on Tuesday night.
The 14-year-old earned his Under-18 debut earlier this week as Arsenal smashed Reading 6-1 at Hale End.
There were some glittering strikes on display but arguably none more so than Nwaneri’s effort.
He received possession just outside the box, turned his marker and then curled home with his left foot from 20 yards, leaving the Royals keeper with no chance.
And here’s how some Arsenal fans reacted to Nwaneri’s effort on Twitter:
It’s early days and one goal doesn’t exactly mean he’s destined for greatness.
But it was a fine strike and for someone so young to be winning clout from Arsenal fans, it is a big deal at the same time.
The Gunners have a long history of turning academy gems into first-team stars, with the current examples being Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.
Those two are clearly well ahead of Arsenal Under-18 players but they will also be figures of inspiration for the next generation.
