Speaking on the Counter Attack Podcast, Harvey Elliott has been waxing lyrical about how good Roberto Firmino is in Liverpool training.
The youngster of course spent the entirety of last season in and around Liverpool’s first-team before going out on loan to Blackburn, and he says that Firmino is the pick of the bunch in Reds training.
The teenager was asked if there was anyone in particular who he thought was unbelievable in Liverpool training, to which he replied:
“You know what, Firmino. This guy, when he’s on the ball you just can’t get it off of him. He’s a joke. I don’t know, maybe it’s a Brazilian thing, technically they’re just so good, even Fabinho, even Alisson to be fair. No but, Firmino is a joke,” Elliott said.
The teenager then made a point about every player training at a high level, before returning to speak about Firmino.
“When I first saw Firmino in training I was just dazed watching him because what he was doing with the ball was just unbelievable.”
It’s no surprise to hear this.
Firmino is one of the most skilful players in the Premier League, so we can’t even begin to imagine what kind of tricks he tries to pull of in training.
We see the Brazilian bring the flair on a weekly basis on the pitch, and he’s probably even more tricky in a non-competitive environment.
Sadly, Firmino hasn’t been at his brilliant best this season, and we can only hope that he rediscovers his form sooner rather than later.
