George Jung, the inspiration behind the movie Blow, is survived by his daughter Kristina Sunshine Jung and other family members.

Former drug smuggler George Jung has died at the age of 78. He was the real-life inspiration behind the 2001 movie Blow, where he was portrayed by actor Johnny Depp.

Jung leaves behind his wife Ronda and only daughter Kristina Sunshine, whom he had with his former wife Mirtha.

George Jung has died aged 78

George Jung passed away on Wednesday morning (May 5th), TMZ has first reported, citing sources close to the situation.

His cause of death is unknown and the publication has added that he had been struggling with a liver and kidney failure.

Jung’s official Twitter account tweeted a quote from the film Blow which says: “May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face, and the winds of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars. 1942-2021.”

Jung was arrested in 1994 and stayed in prison until 2014. According to Deadline, after his 2014 release, he was still on probation as of November, 2020.

Who is George Jung’s daughter?

George Jung’s daughter is called Kristina Sunshine Jung, who was born on August 1st, 1978. She is an entrepreneur and actor.

Kristina was raised by her grandparents, Frederick and Ermine Jung, and later spent some time living with her aunt when she turned 18 years old.

The Sun reports that she owns a clothing brand called BG Apparel and Merchandise, which she used to run with Jung.

Jung’s daughter also has an official Instagram profile, however, it’s set to private at the time of publication.

Kristina, who is married to husband Roman Karan, suffered another heartache earlier this year. Her daughter, Athena Karan, died at the age of 19 in a car accident in January, 2021.

Kristina came under the media spotlight when Blow premiered in 2001, the movie that was inspired by Jung’s real-life story.

Actress Emma Roberts portrayed her in the film, which looked at the troubled relationship Jung had with his daughter.

The end of the movie finished on a sour note as it revealed that Kristina and Jung haven’t spoken in years.

It’s unclear whether Kristina visited her father during his time in jail. According to pictures, they reconnected once Jung got released.
