Netflix’s hit Korean drama ‘Vincenzo’ has just concluded, but has the series been renewed for season 2 and if so, when could it release?

It’s sure been a wild ride, but Vincenzo officially concluded last weekend on Netflix with the airing of episode 20.

This particular Korean drama has stood out among the rest and has arguably become one of the most popular series on the entire Netflix platform.

So, has the hit K-drama been renewed for a second season and if so, when can fans expect more Vincenzo content?

Vincenzo: Season 2

  • At the time of writing, Vincenzo has not been renewed for season 2 and Netflix’s hit Korean drama is unlikely to return for another trial.

There may not be an official confirmation concerning a second season of Vincenzo, but it remains unlikely that the hit K-drama will be renewed.

The vast majority of Korean series that have more than 16 episodes are never intended to be renewed and if season 2 was on the cards, we would have likely heard about it already.

Speaking to Naver News, lead actor Song Joong Ki revealed that “nothing has been said about season 2.”

“Nothing has been said about season 2. I’m personally happy that many people want season 2 to come out, but realistically speaking, it’s not coming out. And I don’t think there was ever any season 2 discussion going on internally.” – Song Joon Ki, via Naver News.

One thing is for certain, Vincenzo is easily popular enough around the world to merit a renewal. The series is incredibly popular in Korea, with episode 20 being watched by over 14% of the national viewership.

However, the series is also adored by millions of people outside Korea; scoring 8.6/10 on IMDB, 9/10 on MyDramaList, 92% on AsianWiki and 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Interestingly, it appears that the cast of Vincenzo are open to a spin-off series. On May 2nd, Kwak Dong-Yeon (Chairman Jang Han-Seo) replied to a tweet from Netflix Korea, saying “Hope Netflix makes a spinoff.”

So, whilst a second season remains unlikely, there could easily be a spin-off Vincenzo series that deals with either the fallout or origins of some characters.

Vincenzo season 2: Release date

As Vincenzo has not yet been officially renewed, a release date for season 2 remains unknown. However, we can make some predictions based on the production schedule for this season.

The series was announced in May 2020, with the first script reading taking place in August and premiering on Netflix in February 2021.

Assuming that season 2 would experience a similar production schedule of roughly 10 months, fans could see Vincenzo return as soon as early-2022.

However, with the information that the cast would be open to a spin-off series, we would have to wait and see whether this would replace the production on season 2.

This article will be updated as soon as more information on Vincenzo season 2 is revealed, so keep checking back in for the latest news.
