Heung-Min Son has told TV3 Sport that it is ‘really sad’ that Jose Mourinho is no longer Tottenham Hotspur manager.

Son thrived under Mourinho and it was claimed by the Daily Telegraph that he was one of the few Tottenham players who were ‘upset’ by his departure.

Those claims have now been backed up by the Tottenham striker, who suggests that Mourinho remains one of the best managers in the world, in his opinion.

“It’s always sad if someone lose the day job. Having worked with him for 17 or 18 months, it’s been up and down it’s been good and sometimes we’ve been not so good,” he said.

“I think for me and my memory he will still be one of the best managers in the world.

“It’s just so sad that he didn’t go with success. It was really sad because he is the guy that wins everything. It was the only team that he wasn’t successful, so I feel really sorry about this kind of thing.”

Son was one of the few Tottenham players who Mourinho did seem to get the very best out of.

His partnership with Harry Kane at Spurs was arguably better than ever under Mourinho’s guidance.

Son was clearly a player who Mourinho trusted, but unfortunately he couldn’t get the same tune out of many other members of Spurs’ squad.

Tottenham’s results and performances were massively disappointing under the Portuguese boss’s tutelage, and by the time he departed there could be few complaints about the decision.

Son has certainly not let his disappointment at Mourinho going impact on his performances on the pitch either.

The Tottenham forward has scored two goals in Ryan Mason’s three games in charge, and helped Spurs to wins over Southampton and Sheffield United in the Premier League.
