KV Oostende manager Alexander Blessin has played down reports suggesting he could replace Chris Wilder at Sheffield United, in quotes reported by Voetbal Primeur.
It is almost two months since the Blades parted company with Wilder.
And it seems that we are no closer to finding out who will be tasked with stepping into the shoes of a living legend at Bramall Lane.
47-year-old Blessin, a graduate of the Red Bull finishing school and an exponent of fast-paced, high-pressing football, has been one of the names most frequently linked with the Sheffield United post, alongside promotion specialist Slavisa Jokanovic.
The Athletic, however, reports that new Brexit legislation could scupper any potential move for Blessin, given that the German has only been working in a European league for six months.
Blessin is understood to have had his request for a Visa turned down.
Speaking this weekend, the one-time Stuttgart forward broke his silence as a move to the Premier League’s bottom club becomes increasingly unlikely.
“You shouldn’t always believe what is being told. Sometimes something is right, sometimes it’s just rumours,” Blessin said.

“The concentration is now completely on the play-offs. And another thing: I am still under contract here for one more year.”
Blessin has led an unfancied Oostende side into the play-offs this season following a fifth place finish, with Europa League qualification in their sights.
