According to The Sun, Newcastle United are looking into a summer move for Huddersfield Town ace Lewis O’Brien.

It’s claimed that Newcastle could struggle to meet Arsenal’s asking price for loanee Joe Willock, and that means Steve Bruce is looking at alternatives.

O’Brien is one of them, given that he could arrive for just £4million – around a fifth of the price Newcastle would have to pay for Willock.

Several Premier League teams are keen, but it’s Newcastle who are now hopeful of signing O’Brien if there is no movement with Willock.

O’Brien has been branded as a player with ‘amazing skills’ by boss Carlos Corberan, and he looks destined for the Premier League one day.

The 22-year-old has chipped in with three goals and three assists this season, playing mostly as a central or attacking midfielder.

The cheap asking price is a surprise, as whilst O’Brien only has a year left on his contract, Huddersfield do have the option to add another year onto his deal.

Quick and energetic, O’Brien could be a very smart addition to the Newcastle side, even if he wouldn’t make quite as many headlines as Willock.
