Jan Vertonghen has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the controversial incident involving Giovani Lo Celso during Tottenham Hotspur’s game tonight.
Tottenham took on Sheffield United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League this evening.
Ryan Mason’s side won the match in the end to maintain their chances of finishing in the Champions League places, but it was not without its fair share of controversy.
In the opening minute of the second half, John Fleck barged over Lo Celso and then stamped on his head.
It was not clear if Fleck meant it or it was accidental, and after a VAR check, it was decided that no punishment would be given.
Former Tottenham central defender Vertonghen, now on the books of Benfica, believes that VAR was wrong with the decision.

Top-four challenge
Spurs won the game against United with ease in the end, and the North London club still have the chance to finish in the Champions League places in the Premier League table this season.
Tottenham are now five points behind fourth-placed and London rivals Chelsea in fifth place.
Finishing in the top four is not in Spurs’ hands now – they have to rely on other teams slipping up – but they are certainly not giving up without a fight.
Under Mason, Tottenham are playing good and attacking football. Against the Blades on Sunday evening, Gareth Bale, on loan from Real Madrid, scored a hat-trick and had one of his best games this season.
