Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Sergio Aguero in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Star.

It has been reported that Tottenham are among the clubs who are interested in securing the services of the City striker on a free transfer this summer.

Everton, Chelsea, Leeds United, Barcelona and Inter Milan are also claimed to want the Argentina international, who is out of contract at City at the end of the season and earns £240,000 per week as salary.

Sergio Aguero would be superb for Tottenham Hotspur

Aguero has had injury problems and is also 32 years of age, but there is no doubt that he would be a blockbuster signing for Tottenham.

Harry Kane is the number one striker at Spurs, and while that will not change anytime soon, Aguero would make the North London outfit absolutely unstoppable in attack.

The Argentina international striker is one of the best strikers of all time to have played in the Premier League and is a proven goalscorer.

Too expensive for Tottenham Hotspur?

While Tottenham would not have to pay any transfer fee for Aguero, his reported salary of £240,000 per week does appear too much for the North London club.

According to Spotrac, Kane is the highest paid player at Spurs on £200,000 per week (Gareth Bale is on loan from Real Madrid).

If Spurs are unable to finish in the Champions League places, then it is hard to see club chairman Daniel Levy able to – or willing to – give £240,000 per week to a 32-year-old player.
