Tottenham Hotspur fans aren’t a happy bunch after hearing that they could possibly push for Gareth Southgate to be their next boss.
After going through the failed Jose Mourinho gig, the Spurs faithful clearly want an appointment that gets them back on their feet again.
And given that Southgate has had his critics as England boss, even though he reached a World Cup semi-final, it’s pretty clear what the perception about him is.
Journalist Ian McGarry has told the Transfer Window Podcast that Spurs have contacted the former centre-back with a view of him becoming their next manager.
It’s clearly not sat well with the Spurs fans, who want a more attack-minded boss and they see Southgate as more defensive than the guy they just sacked.
Plus, it’s one thing doing the business on the international stage and it’s another working that same magic on the domestic scene.
Southgate struggled during his managerial stint with Boro, when they were relegated to the Championship, so it might not be the best of ideas to push towards his direction.
