Astronaut Michael Collins, who is one of the first three-member crew on Apollo 11, leaves behind three children, Kathleen, Michael Jr. and Ann.

Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins died on April 28th, 2021, at the age of 90 after a long battle with cancer in the last few years.

Buzz Aldrin, who is the only surviving crew member of the mission, wrote in a poignant tribute: “Dear Mike, Wherever you have been or will be, you will always have the Fire to Carry us deftly to new heights and to the future. We will miss you. May you Rest In Peace.”

Michael Collins has died aged 90

Astronaut Michael Collins, who was part of the Apollo 11 team with Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong, passed away on April 28th, 2021.

The news about his death was announced by his family in a Twitter statement that says: “He spent his final days peacefully, with his family by his side. Mike always faced the challenges of life with grace and humility, and faced this, his final challenge, in the same way.”

Michael was married to his wife Patricia M. Finnegan for 57 years until her death in 2014.

Who are Michael Collins’ children?

Michael and his late wife Patricia are parents to three children, Kathleen, Michael Jr. and Ann.

Kathleen, who is also known as Kate, was born on May 6th, 1958 in Boston and grew up in Washington, DC.

She graduated from the National Cathedral School and went on to study theater at Northwestern University, graduating in 1981.

Kate is an actress who starred as Natalie Marlowe in the ABC soap opera All My Children. Thanks to her role, she received a nomination for Outstanding Villain/Villainess at the Soap Opera Digest Award three times.

She married Chicago Court Theatre’s artistic director Charles Newell in 1992 and the two have two children together.

Public details about the astronaut’s son, Michael Jr, are scarce and information about his education, career or family are unknown.

Unlike Kate who enjoyed a career in the media spotlight, Michael and Ann have kept their lives more private.
