Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has suggested that Liverpool and Arsenal target Yves Bissouma is a ‘great player’ in his latest press conference, which was covered by Leeds Live.
Liverpool and Arsenal are both thought to be chasing the £40 million man, according to the Telegraph.
Bissouma, who is now at Brighton & Hove Albion, has caught the eye of all observers this term.
He is a player who Bielsa knows well, as they linked up when at Lille earlier in their career.
And the Leeds boss only had praise for the central midfielder now.
Bielsa said: “Was a great player and confirmed it. It’s not the same to have potential and to show it. When I had the chance to work with him he had a lot of resources and here he has shown them completely. He has gained recognition due to his resources.”
If Bissouma arrives at Liverpool he could slot in as Georginio Wijnaldum’s replacement at Anfield.
Wijnaldum looks set to depart Liverpool on a free transfer, as he still hasn’t penned a new contract.
Bissouma may not quite have the same energy as Wijnaldum provides Liverpool, but he is arguably stronger defensively and has more technical ability.
At Arsenal there also appears to be a space for Bissouma.
Mikel Arteta’s side are looking for a reliable partner for Thomas Partey and Bissouma looks like an ideal candidate to slot in there.
