Southampton, West Ham United and Leicester City have missed out on Jayden Wareham with the coveted striker expected to sign for Chelsea instead, as reported by the Telegraph.
Eagle-eyed Chelsea fans might have noticed that this deal has been on the cards for a while now.
One-time Queens Park Rangers starlet Wareham has been playing for the Blues’ youth sides for the last couple of weeks – presumably on trial.
He even scored in a 7-0 shellacking of Aston Villa earlier in April.
And it seems that Wareham has done enough to earn himself a chance at QPR’s West London neighbours.
The Telegraph reports that, despite interest from Southampton, West Ham and Leicester, the Woking FC prospect is closing in on a full-time move to Stamford Bridge.

We can expect to see a repeat of this particular story over the next few years.
With post-Brexit regulations making it increasingly difficult for English-based clubs to sign players outside of the UK – as Newcastle, Liverpool and Arsenal (below) have already discovered – talented homegrown prospects like Wareham are likely to be in more demand than ever before.
