Liverpool are still on track and expecting to sign Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig this summer, the Daily Mail suggest.

Liverpool announced huge losses yesterday, which led to concerns that they may not be able to make signings this summer.

However, the Mail insists that all is going according to plan and Liverpool still intend on bringing in Konate.

FSG want to invest to provide Jurgen Klopp with the tools to mount a title charge next term.

Even though Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are expected to be back at some point next season, Klopp has made signing a new central defender his main priority – and it seems Konate is right at the top of his wishlist.

Liverpool appeared to be in advanced talks to sign him last month, but some doubts had crept in over whether the 21-year-old would sign.

But the Mail reassure fans that Liverpool are still expecting Konate to join and they remain on track to land the £40 million central defender.

Good signing?

Konate has caught the eye in the Bundesliga, and would surely be an excellent recruit to supplement Gomez and Van Dijk.

It is not known exactly what level the injured pair will return at, and Joel Matip has proven very unreliable fitness wise.

Konate. who Robert Lewandowski called ‘really good’ (Planet Football), looks an upgrade on the likes of Nathaniel Phillips, Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies, so appears to be a clever addition by Klopp’s men.
