A whole load of drama has erupted online involving Keemstar and Ethan Klein. Who was Etika? Here’s all the drama explained.
YouTuber’s Ethan Klein and Keemstar have had their fair share of drama over the past few years.
They’re far from friends, and Keemstar even tried to sue Ethan following a feud involving YouTuber Leafy.
Now, they’re feuding yet again after Ethan made some big accusations about Keemstar and Etika.
Who was Etika?
Desmond Daniel Amofah, better known by his social media name Etika, was an American YouTuber, streamer and social media star.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York and his father is a Ghanaian politician and lawyer.
He started his career as a model before launching his YouTube channel and accumulating 800,000 subscribers.
Etika’s content was mainly gaming and Nintendo-focused.
Etika died in 2019
In 2019, Etika sadly passed away, and his cause of death has been concluded as suicide.
On June 20th 2019, a video titled “I’m sorry” was uploaded to Etika’s personal YouTube channel in which he admitted to struggling with his mental health.
In the description of the video, he left a suicide note, and the video was removed for violating YouTube’s Community Guidelines.
He was then reported missing to the New York Police Department, and on the same day, his belongings were discovered on the Manhattan Bridge.
On June 24th, his body was found approximately half a mile away from where his belongings were collected.
His body was recovered the next day and the Office of Chief Medical Examiner confirmed his cause of death as suicide by drowning.
Keemstar and Ethan Klein drama explored
On Tuesday (April 27th), YouTubers Ethan Klein and Trisha Paytas were discussing Etika on his Frenemies podcast, and Ethan began making allegations about Keemstar and Etika.
“If you don’t know anything about Etika, you should look at that because it’s one of the most tragic things that has happened in YouTube history,” he said before alleging that Keemstar was somewhat responsible for Etika’s death.
“He was a really sweet gamer kid, growing YouTuber and he was having a bunch of manic episodes, he was clearly bipolar, and Keemstar would bring him on his show all the time and parade him around in the midst of a manic episode,” Ethan said.
He then continued to make a number of other allegations about Keemstar, and Keemstar has clapped back to his claims on Twitter.
“I’m in actual disbelief. Etika’s family, Etika’s friends, Etika’s real fans that used to actually watch him and watch his streams have all asked Ethan Klein to stop using Etika’s death as a pawn to attack me,” he said.
He continued: “His mother came out with a statement saying that I am in no way responsible for the tragic loss of Etika, and he’s still doing it. He just made this big rant and said stuff that I have never said.”
