According to the Sunday World, sources in Germany suggest that Ozan Kabak is expected to join Liverpool permanently this summer.

On Friday, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported that Liverpool were on the verge of completing a deal for RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate.

The Frenchman is allegedly Anfield-bound in a €35million (£30million) deal, after weeks of speculation surrounding a move.

It’s now claimed that Konate is indeed heading to Merseyside, but Kabak is still expected to join Liverpool permanently for £18million.

Kabak joined Liverpool on loan from Schalke in January, and some wondered whether the Reds would try and negotiate a cheaper price – especially with Schalke now relegated from the Bundesliga.

After a shaky start, the 21-year-old has impressed in recent weeks, and has seemingly done enough to convince Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards to make the deal permanent.

That would then give Klopp great depth at centre back; Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Nathaniel Phillips, Ben Davies, Rhys Williams, Kabak and Konate.

After a season marred by the centre back issues, Liverpool may take a step to solve them for next season and beyond with a double deal worth more than £50million.
