Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with Rui Vitoria over potentially replacing Jose Mourinho, Duncan Castles has reported on the Transfer Window Podcast.

Tottenham are now assessing their options and have apparently reached out to Vitoria to see if he would be interested in the job.

The 51-year-old is currently out of work and is a rather left-field suggestion.

But Tottenham seemingly do have some interest in the former Benfica boss, according to Castles.

“On top of Nagelsmann, another name I’ve heard that there is an interest in is Rui Vitoria, the former Benfica coach who won a couple of Portuguese titles and is quite highly rated by his peers,” the reporter said.

“I believe a question has been put in by intermediaries about whether Vitoria would be interested in the job. Not by any means first choice but shows they don’t have their man yet and are casting around to see the range of options around for them.”

Vitoria has never before managed in the Premier League and the links are unlikely to excite Tottenham fans too much.

His most recent managerial post was at Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr FC, but he left there is 2020.

Most of Vitoria’s success came at Benfica, when he won the Portuguese title on two occasions.
