Ryan Mason told Sky Sports on Wednesday evening that ‘the hope is’ that Tottenham striker Harry Kane will be back on the pitch by the end of the week.
The Spurs hitman missed his side’s 2-1 win at Southampton and is seemingly touch-and-go for the big one on Sunday.
Tottenham will now prepare for the League Cup final on Sunday, with Mason winning his first game in charge.
And this is what the Premier League’s youngest ever manager had to say about Kane when asked to deliver a fresh update on his fitness.
“It’s difficult,” said Mason. “We are still not sure yet. We are treating it day by day.
“The hope is that he might be on the pitch by the end of the week and like I say, at the moment, it’s a day-by-day thing.”

That win against Southampton on Wednesday would have, no doubt, lifted the club after a troublesome week.
Three points, winning from behind for the first time this season and doing it all without Kane.
But they are going to need him back for the big one on Sunday because Manchester City are a different animal to struggling Southampton.
