Instagram users report video glitch

Twitter is being flooded with reports that Instagram is down today (April 21st).

Users are claiming that they are experiencing errors when trying to watch videos, including the videos glitching, looking pixelated and not loading properly.

One person tweeted: “Is anyone else’s Instagram lagging and glitching when you watch videos or is that just me?”

“I think my Instagram is broken like all the videos keep glitching,” wrote another.

A third person said: “@instagram why are the videos in my feed and public stories currently glitching? I get black bars or they pixelate.”

Instagram hasn’t responded

At the time of writing this, Instagram has not yet responded to the reports.

The app hasn’t given a reason for the errors which appear to be worldwide, however, it’s likely that they are already working on a fix.

In the meantime, here are some things you could try that might fix your app.

How to fix the video glitch

Instagram has not confirmed why users are experiencing errors, but here are a few things that users have reported fixed their app.

  • Close the app and open it again.

First, try completely shutting down your app. On an iPhone, do this by swiping up on your homepage.

  • Log out of the app.

Some users have reported that logging out of the app and then logging back in again has fixed their Instagram.

  • Restart your phone.

It’s the oldest trick in the book, and sometimes all you’ve got to do is turn your phone off and on again.

  • Uninstall your app.

You could also try deleting your app and then re-downloading it again from the App Store.

Instagram appears to still be working normally through its webpage, so if none of those options work, log into Instagram through your browser to continue using the platform until the app is fixed.
