The striker certainly owes a lot to Mourinho. After all, the former Chelsea boss gave him his first-team debut, and while a number of Tottenham players reportedly had an issue with Mourinho, Scarlett was one man who the ex-Spurs boss treated well.

It’s great to see the young striker expressing himself so eloquently on social media and giving thanks to the manager who gave him his first taste of senior football.

Whether or not Scarlett gets more chances under the next Tottenham manager remains to be seen, but this was certainly a classy way to say goodbye to Mourinho.

Here’s what Spurs supporters have been saying about Scarlett’s tweet.
