Just six weeks ago, all those rumours became reality.

Liam Shaw will leave Sheffield Wednesday and join Celtic when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Now, just one month later, Owls fans are bidding a begrudging farewell to another exciting young talent with the world at his feet and potential by the bucketload.

Déjà vu all over again.

Like Shaw, 20-year-old Osaze Urhoghide will be a free agent on 1 July.

And, according to The Star, it’s increasingly unlikely the talented, versatile defender – one of the few bright sparks in a dark season at Hillsborough – will be sticking around to help this once great club stumble around League One next term.

With Club Brugge and Sporting Lisbon registering an interest, there’s a real chance Urhoghide could be about to swap the Championship for the Champions League.

If the former Wimbledon youngster wants to stay in England – and test himself in the top flight – he won’t be short of offers there either.

Last month, the Star reported Crystal Palace, Leeds United and soon-to-be-promoted Watford are queuing up too.

Wednesday fans have become used to disappointment, of watching on in tired resignation as their most promising youngsters leave while overpaid, underperforming veterans arrive in their place.

Familiarity breeds contempt, as they say, and Urhoghide’s imminent departure is going down about as well as a Lancashire hotpot at Hillsborough.
