West Ham United striker Ademipo Odubeko paid tribute to Everton goalkeeper Harry Tyrer following Monday’s narrow Premier League 2 victory, while speaking to the club’s official website.

Not for the first time this season, the 18-year-old Irishman was the claret and blue-clad hero.

In all competitions, Odubeko has scored 12 times in 11 matches, netting twice more as West Ham recovered from Josh Bowler’s early opener to seal the tightest of 2-1 wins against David Unsworth’s Toffees.

Odubeko hit a hat-trick against former club Manchester United the week earlier but there was to be no repeat of that on Monday with Tyrer, in the Everton goal, making a string of eye-catching stops.

Odubeko, this time around, had to settle for two.

“I thought the Everton keeper was class. He got down to make a good couple of saves – shots that I thought would’ve gone in – but obviously I had to keep at it,” said Odubeko, who joined West Ham in 2019.

“I feel like I’m in good form. Obviously I’ve missed quite a bit of this season with injury, but it’s been good to get a good run of games and get a couple of goals.

“I couldn’t let my head drop and I got there in the end and got the two, so I’m happy with that.”

Tyrer, a Crosby-born teenager, has established himself as a regular fixture in Everton’s U23 side in recent months and did his burgeoning reputation no harm at all with another stand-out performance at West Ham.

The 19-year-old has been included in Carlo Ancelotti’s matchday squad on seven occasions since the turn of the year too, rising up the ranks during the injury-enforced absences of Robin Olsen and Jordan Pickford.
