Liverpool are interested in bringing Ousmane Dembele to Anfield in the summer transfer window, according to Calciomercato.
The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed interest in the Barcelona forward from Manchester United as well, as covered by HITC Sport.
Liverpool will reportedly have to pay €50 million (£43.31 million) as transfer fee for the 23-year-old forward, with Barcelona willing to sell him at that price.
The 23-year-old has had injury problems during his time at Barcelona and has not made a massive impact at Camp Nou – at least not on a regular basis – but if Thiago’s previous comments are anything to go by, then Liverpool could be signing a gem.
Back in July 2019, Thiago, then on the books of Bayern Munich, said that he would love to play with Dembele for the German club.
“As a football player and one who played against him I can say he is a very good footballer. I would like to play with all the great players who would love to come to Bayern.”
Liverpool have a strong forward-line, but with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane not having the best of seasons, there is an argument to be made that manager Jurgen Klopp needs to freshen it up.
Dembele is only 23 years of age, and if he is able to stay fit, then he would be a brilliant signing for Liverpool, not just for now, but in the long run as well.
