Tim Sherwood has said on Premier League Productions that Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho should not risk Harry Kane against Southampton.
Kane suffered an ankle injury during Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Everton in the Premier League last Friday.
The England international striker, who scored both the goals, had to be substituted late in the game.
It is not clear for how long the 27-year-old will be on the sidelines. Spurs will take on Southampton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Wednesday evening and will face Manchester City in the EFL Cup final next Sunday.
Former Spurs manager Sherwood believes that Mourinho simply cannot risk Kane against Southampton even if the striker regains full fitness.
Sherwood said on Premier League Productions: “That one (match against Southampton) has got to sacrifice him.”
The Englishman added: “He is a huge miss. I think you have to sacrifice him for the Southampton game. You have got good enough players to beat Southampton without Harry Kane.”

Big decision
Tottenham are still very much in the race for the Premier League top four. True, Spurs’ recent results and performances have not been great, but they are only five points behind fourth-placed West Ham United.
A top-four finish is not entirely impossible, which means that the match against Southampton is important. However, the EFL Cup final gives Spurs the chance to win a major trophy.
