Demi Lovato has been making headlines since Sunday since the singer went after Los Angeles’s The Bigg Chill frozen yoghurt shop. She lashed out at the company by taking to her Instagram. Demi Lovato’s The Bigg Chill Yoghurt drama Explained
Demi took to her Instagram on Sunday to call out the frozen yoghurt joint which apparently has low-fat, no sugar and fat-free goodies stationed at the front of their store.
Taking to her Instagram stories the singer wrote, “Finding it extremely hard to order froyo from @thebiggchillofficial when you have to walk past tons of sugar free cookies/other diet foods before you get to the counter.” Demi went on to tell them to ‘DO BETTER PLEASE.” The singer also used the hashtag, #DIETCULTUREVULTURES.
The Bigg Chill responds to Demi’s Insta rant
In the upcoming stories, the singer posted snaps of her chat with The Bigg Chill Frozen Yoghurt joint. We can see that the company has replied to Demi’s Insta story in her DMs. The store claimed that they were sorry that she had found the store arrangement offensive.
The company also claimed that they weren’t ‘diet vultures’, as the diet alternatives for people with diabetics, Celiac disease, vegans and others who might want to go for the “diet” option.
Demi replied to this by claiming that not only was the store arrangement disturbing but the service was terrible too. She also said the staff was rude to her. In the chats she wrote, “the whole experience was triggering and awful.”
She then went on to express that the store needed to be more inclusive. She further expressed that the store also needed to service another percentage of the customers who struggle daily to even step foot in the store, because they find the overwhelming diet options triggering. Demi was referring to people with eating disorders here, as she explains further.
Explaining what she meant to say, Demi wrote, “Including eating disorders- one of the deadliest mental illnesses only second to opioid overdoses. Don’t make excuses, just do better.”
Furthermore, Demi went on to say, “I was thinking, maybe it would help if you made it more clear that the sugar-free options and vegan options are for celiac and diabetes patients or for vegans.”
