Tim Sherwood told Optus Sport on Premier League Productions that he doesn’t think Everton are ‘ready’ to finish in the Champions League places.
But the outspoken TV pundit thinks, Everton and West Ham still have a ‘real chance’ to compete with some of the world’s best next season.
West Ham’s top-four chances were dealt a blow yesterday following their defeat to Newcastle, whilst Everton recorded a 2-2 draw against fellow European-chasing rivals, Tottenham on Friday night.
Sherwood thinks Everton’s game in hand, which is against Aston Villa, is crucial, as he shared his thoughts on their and West Ham’s top-four hopes.
“They (Everton) have a game in hand on them (Spurs),” said Sherwood. “So, there is a real chance.
“But I think they have got ahead of themselves. I think if the season were to end now then it’s a fantastic season for Everton.
“Are they ready for the top-four? No, not in my opinion. But are West Ham ready? Are Leicester ready?
“They all have a chance. When you are there, or thereabouts with this many games to go, you put a little run together now. Who knows?”

At the start of the season, both those at Goodison and the London Stadium would have snapped your hand off if they were offered the chance of Europa League football.
But given how far they have pushed this season, especially the Hammers, it would feel like a body blow if they end the season outside of the top four.
The Toffees are six points behind West Ham, with a game in hand, whilst David Moyes’ men currently occupy that final Champions League spot, with Liverpool taking on Leeds on Monday night and Chelsea in FA Cup action this weekend.
