Highly-rated Rangers winger Kai Kennedy has helped Raith Rovers secure a spot in the Championship promotion playoffs as the Fifers look for a second successive promotion after winning League One last season.

The teenage star has impressed for John McGlynn’s side since moving to Kirkcaldy in January, playing a key role in this afternoon’s win over Alloa Athletic.

As well as securing Raith’s place in the playoffs, the result also condemned Alloa to League One next season.

Kennedy played 80 minutes for Raith after being named in the starting XI as the Ibrox loanee looks to force his way into the first-team picture at Rangers next season.

With 19 starts under his belt in the league this season across loan stints with Raith and Inverness CT, Kennedy is highly-thought of at Ibrox and will be hoping to have caught the eye while away from the club.

Having been tied down at Rangers until 2023 when he signed a new contract at the turn of the year, Kennedy’s form for Raith will likely give Steven Gerrard and his staff something to think about ahead of his return to Glasgow in the summer.
