It’s been over a year since the third season of Castlevania premiered, but will the anime return and what date will season 4 release on Netflix?
From Beastars and Devilman Crybaby to Dorohedoro and Castlevania, Netflix is killing it when it comes to creating original anime.
The latter is arguably the best adaptation of a video game that we have ever seen, with slick animations and a cast of Hollywood A-listers to boot.
Castlevania has been one of Netflix’s most popular original shows ever since it first premiered in 2017, but fans have been forced to remain patient waiting for new content.
Here is everything we know so far about the next instalment, season 4, of Castlevania.
Is Castlevania returning to Netflix?
Yes, Netflix has officially confirmed that Castlevania will return for at least one more season.
The announcement was actually made just a few weeks after season 3 was released but let’s be honest here, none of us are really surprised that the series will continue.
Castlevania is a superb series with an all-star cast, the platform was sure to renew the series – especially considering the ultra-impressive 92% and 8.2/10 scores on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB respectively.
However, it’s always a relief to get an official announcement that a series will return and the news has definitely put a lot of fans at ease.
What date will Castlevania season 4 release on Netflix?
- A release date for Castlevania season 4 has been confirmed, the anime series will return to Netflix on May 13th, 2021.
There had been concerns that the anime could be delayed because of scheduling conflicts, with executive producer Adi Shankar working on an adaptation of Devil May Cry.
However, the announcement for a May premiere was made on April 16th with a new trailer, see below for more.
There was a 15-month gap between the first two seasons and a 16-month gap for the third season. However, there will be just a 14-month hiatus for season 4.
What can the plot be for Castlevania season 4?
We don’t currently have any concrete leaks on the possible plot for season 4, but it’s safe to say that the next instalment of Castlevania should continue from that awesome finale.
We will probably see Carmilla set her ‘corridor-pen’ plan into action with Hector now enslaved to Lenore. Whilst the forge master will have to create an army of night creatures for her, I could easily see a betrayal on the cards – with Lenore and Hector ruling together.
Then there is Alucard, who’s turning into his father after staking Sumi and Taka outside the castle. Could he turn evil in season 4, or will there be a moral dilemma story arc if Trevor and Sypha return?
Finally, we have Dracula himself. Whilst he wasn’t able to travel through the infinite corridor back from hell, he now knows that there are ways for him to return. Could we see a return of the count in season 4?
Seasons 1-3 of Castlevania are available right now on Netflix.
