Paul Merson has told Sky Sports that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang & Alexandre Lacazette need to start tonight, alongside either Bukayo Saka or Nicolas Pepe.

As every week passes, there seems to be a game around that corner that is potentially season-defining for Arsenal…and here is one today.

Arsenal are potentially 90 minutes away from being knocked out of the Europa League and their already abject season turning into a disaster.

Forget about the past, Arsenal need to make the ball talk in the final third tonight and Merson listed the three players that ‘will cause havoc’ if Arteta starts them.

“I like Lacazette, he is a good footballer, he holds the ball up and brings players into the game, he is decent,” said Merson.

“And I would play him up front, alongside Aubameyang with three in attack with Saka or Nicolas Pepe and say to them, ‘just get us a goal, we will defend’ and they will cause havoc.

“They should cause havoc – they are all good players – and it is not like they are trying to improve them.”

From those players mentioned, Aubameyang is the one main talking point.

In terms of the performances he has produced this season, he shouldn’t be anywhere near Arsenal’s starting XI.

But he’s your captain, your highest earner and your best player last season, so this is now his time to step up.

If he doesn’t and Arsenal get knocked out then it just shows the utter mess the Gunners are in.
