There are plenty of great sitcoms out there, but for many, nothing raises laughs quite like Kim’s Convenience.

This Canadian show has earned acclaim for its characters, humour and treatment of important themes since it first premiered on CBC Television back in October 2016.

Audiences have become better acquainted with the Kim family and their titular convenience store in Toronto over the years, enjoying performances from Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Jean Yoon, Andrea Bang, Simu Liu and more.

Kim’s Convenience season 5: Netflix release date confirmed?

  • No, a Netflix release date for Kim’s Convenience season 5 is yet to be confirmed.

Fans were expecting it to drop on the platform recently after the season’s finale – episode 13, titled ‘Friends and Family’ – aired in Canada on Tuesday, April 13th 2021.

This is because season 4 released on Netflix on April 1st 2020, the day after the season finale aired on CBC Television. However, the latest and final season hasn’t conformed to this pattern.

The streamer’s schedule for April 2021 has already been unveiled and there are no signs of Kim’s Convenience season 5.

TVLine includes that the season will be available on Netflix shortly after the finale date, so perhaps subscribers will be invited to check out the latest batch of episodes in May of this year.

Kim’s Convenience: The final season?

Yes, Kim’s convenience has concluded on season 5.

The announcement was made in March 2021 and the producers issued a statement to fans:

“To our amazing fans: Authenticity of storytelling is at the center of the success of Kim’s Convenience. At the end of production on Season 5, our two co-creators confirmed they were moving onto other projects. Given their departure from the series, we have come to the difficult conclusion that we cannot deliver another season of the same heart and quality that has made the show so special.”

The statement continued: “Kim’s Convenience has meant so much to our cast, writers, crew, and audiences around the world. Despite the restrictions and complications of shooting during the pandemic, Season 5 is our finest season to date.

“It’s been a privilege and a very great pleasure to work with the Kim’s family of gifted writers and performers for the last five years. Thank you to our fans for the love and support you’ve given this show.”
