Wolverhampton Wanderers fear new Brexit rules will cost them the chance to sign £5 million-rated Norrkoping starlet Isak Bergmann Johannesson this summer, as reported by The Telegraph.

It has only been a few months since post-EU legislation came into force but a couple of exciting transfer deals have already been stopped in their tracks.

Arsenal were denied the chance to sign Bologna’s Bulgaria international centre-back Valentin Antov in January (Fakti). USA youngster Chris Gloster, meanwhile, missed out on a switch to Newcastle United (ESPN).

So you can understand why Wolves would be worried.

18-year-old Bergmann, son of Joey Gudjonsson, was born in Sutton Coldfield, near Birmingham, during his father’s spell in the Premier League at Aston Villa.

But, after spending the first few years of his young career back home in Scandinavia, there are fears the teen sensation will fall foul of those pesky Brexit rules.

Johannesson, a two-time Iceland international who produced 12 assists in 31 games during his breakthrough campaign at Norrkoping, attracted the interest of Liverpool before Christmas (Expressen).

Comparisons have also been drawn with a young Gareth Bale.

But while Wolves may be interested, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have yet to inform Norrkoping of their intentions.

“No, there are no ongoing negotiations,” Norrkoping chief Patrik Jonsson said when asked whether Wolves had opened talks with Bergmann.
