West Bromwich Albion have told Harry Williams he’s free to leave the Hawthorns with Burnley taking the young defender on trial, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.
The Baggies don’t have a brilliant track record when it comes to keeping hold of their most talented academy stars.
Kemar Roofe, Chris Wood, Tyler Roberts and Nathan Ferguson all left before the age of 23, after all.
Furthermore, West Brom paid £3 million to bring Romaine Sawyers back home six years after they allowed the midfielder to leave for Walsall.
Whether Williams can follow in Wood’s footsteps and show West Brom what they’re missing at Turf Moor, however, remains to be seen.
According to the Birmingham Mail, the 18-year-old centre-back has been told his contract, which expires in July, won’t be renewed.

West Brom’s local rivals Birmingham City have expressed an interest but it’s Burnley, after offering Williams a trial, who appear to be in pole position as things stand.
Should he make the move to Lancashire, Williams is expected to initially represent Burnley’s youth sides. But, in Sean Dyche, the Clarets have a coach famed for getting the best out of solid centre-halves.
