Pep Guardiola referenced Liverpool’s recent unbeaten run at Anfield to prove the point that Manchester City have shown how ‘difficult’ it is to win 26 of their last 28 matches after their defeat to Leeds on Saturday, as he told his press conference.
Both Liverpool and Manchester City had remarkable streaks ended this season – Jurgen Klopp’s men lost their 68-game unbeaten run at Anfield, whilst the soon-to-be Premier League champions won 21 games on the bounce.
But over the weekend, Man City suffered their second defeat during their crazy run after ten-man Leeds produced a spirited performance and walked away with all three points.
And this is what Guardiola had to say after the game.
“When you see the last 27 or 28 games, we have won 26,” said Guardiola. “You realise how difficult it is what we have done.
“When Liverpool lose a game at Anfield after two, three, four or five years, it shows how difficult it is for us to not lose a game after a very, very long time.
“So, in the Premier League, we must win. We need points, still because our opponent can win all their games.”

Back in July, Liverpool experienced lifting the Premier League trophy without any fans and Manchester City might have to do it with a limited number when they secure this season’s title.
The title is wrapped up for Man City, whose main aim is to secure a passage into the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Whilst Liverpool are on the backfoot against Real Madrid, their English counterparts are leading 2-1 against Dortmund heading into their second leg showdown.
