Why is Google Docs not working? A number of users have reported that the feature is down for them right now and shows the following message: “Google Docs encountered an error”.
The start of the working week has been disrupted by an issue on several Google services after many people revealed that they are experiencing problems with Google Docs.
So, what happened? Here’s what the company said in a message.
Google Docs is down
People in different countries have reported that they can’t access multiple Google services such as Google Docs, Slides and Classroom. Users have revealed that these features are not working for them at the moment.
If you try to create a Google Docs now, the following message pops up which says:
“Google Docs encountered an error. Please try reloading this page, or coming back to it in a few minutes. To learn more about the Google Docs editors, please visit our help center.”
What is the problem?
The problem has been addressed by Google who said that many users are experiencing problems with Google Drive now.
The company said in a message on Monday, April 12th at 2:36 pm (BST time):
“We’re investigating reports of an issue with Google Drive. We will provide more information shortly. The affected users are able to access Google Drive, but are seeing error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behavior. Affected user are unable to create new documents.”
By the looks of this message, Google is currently working on the issue and should address the problem on Twitter once it has been resolved.

It’s safe to say that this isn’t how people have imagined the start of the week as many are still working and studying from their homes.
A lot of social media users have complained that they have work and school assignments to finish which they can’t do now because of the issue with Google Drive.
