Tottenham Hotspur must find a new centre back this summer – it has to be one of their top priorities.

Toby Alderweireld’s future seems unclear, Eric Dier continues to struggle and Davinson Sanchez’s inconsistency is infuriating.

Whether Jose Mourinho is in charge or not, Tottenham simply must bolster their back line – and a 19-year-old with just four first-team appearances to his name may not be what fans were seeking.

If Spurs were going for a Serie A defender, fans would maybe want a Kalidou Koulibaly or a Milan Skriniar, even a Nikola Milenkovic.

Instead, Tottenham made an offer to Juventus defender Radu Dragusin – at least that’s what his agent Florin Manea told Tutto Juve.

Dragusin was set to be out of contract at the end of the season, but has now penned a new deal with Juventus.

The 19-year-old has only made four first-team appearances for Juve, but has already been picked out for praise by Andrea Pirlo, who branded him ‘very strong’.

Manea claims Dragusin had offers from Spurs, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and other clubs, but decided to pick Juve instead, leaving those clubs disappointed.

“We are very happy, we waited a while but it was worth it,” said Manea. “Radu will have the opportunity to fight with the best in the world, he has a great desire to stay here and will work hard to become the starter in the future.”

“I can confirm that we have been contacted by several European clubs. The player was wanted by Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Leipzig, Wolfsburg and also Tottenham, we presented the offers to the boy who, however, had no doubts and wanted to stay at Juventus. He grew up here, now they know him and he has adapted, Radu considers the club one of the top five teams in the world,” he added.
